About Me:

I was born and brought up in Chandipur, Purba Medinipur, West Bengal. I did my schooling from Kandapasara D. P. High School (up to 10th Standard, Secondary Education) and Iswarpur B. M. Academy where I did my Higher Secondary Education. Truly, my interest in chemistry started growing since class VIII. I was immensely influenced towards chemistry by my Teacher, respected Mr. Satyanarayan Maity (Satya Babu) since my school days. Thereafter, I did my Bachelor study in Chemistry from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir, Belur, Howrah (Under Calcutta University). Then I went to IIT Kanpur for my Masters study where I pursued my project work on Synthesis and Characterization Zinc Isoporphyrin Complexes under mentorship of renowned bio-inorganic chemist, Prof. Sabyasachi Sarkar. After finishing my M.Sc. in Chemistry, I went to IIT Bombay for pursuing my Ph.D. under supervision Prof. Debabrata Maiti (He is a gem of a person, scientist and teacher). During my doctoral study, I mainly worked on bio-inspired catalysis including non-heme iron chemistry, vanadium chemistry towards halogenation, C-H hydroxylation, epoxidation and aziridination chemistry. Thereafter, I was a National Post-doctoral Fellow at IISER Kolkata where I learnt bio-inspired iron(V)-chemistry with Prof. Sayam Sen Gupta (He is a great bio-inorganic chemist and great teacher as well). After that, I joined the Department of Chemistry, University of North Bengal (NBU) and started my independent academic journey gradually. In my independent career, I deeply motivated towards electrocatalysis and during my stay at NBU, I visited the lab of Prof. Lutz Ackermann at University of Göttingen and explored electro-organic chemistry for C-H azidation with iron catalysts. At present my major research interests are focused towards electrocatalytic small molecule activation towards energy application including water splitting, CO2 reduction, ammonia oxidation, NOx activation, nitrogen activation and electro-organic synthesis.

Apart from the lab activities, I am a big fan of football and love playing badminton.
